He sets his own example and leads from the front.
Hi! I am Rob McFarland and I am the Lead Pastor at Chestnut Ridge Church. I am a buckeye by birth – I was born in Springfield – half way between Columbus and Dayton. My Mom and Dad were godly people – taking me to Church every time the doors were open. We had a family business. By trade I am a meat cutter – when I was old enough to go to school, I was old enough to begin to work in the meat business. If I were still in that business I would be considered a Master Meat Cutter.
I am married to the most fantastic women in all the world – Missi – and she has been my bride and partner in life since June 28, 1975. We have been blessed with two wonderful children – Robbie and Olivia. Robbie is married to Renaye and they have three children – Bella (7), Robbie III (2), and Josie (6 months). Olivia is married to Greg Powell and they have four children – Adria (15), twin boys Isaac and Chase (14), and Jackson (4).
I was saved when I was 19 years old – six months later I received my calling into the ministry. That was in May of 1974 – in September of that same year I enrolled at Warner Southern College to prepare for the ministry. In 1978 I graduated with honors – top in my major – with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Church Ministries.
My first Church was in Wise, Virginia. There I served for 4½ years as Minister Of Youth & Music. I also served the State as State Youth Director for 2 years during that time. It was while we were in Wise that our 2 children were born.
In November of 1982, I received a call from the Church in Hubbard to prayerfully consider becoming their Pastor. Feeling led by God to accept that calling, I have never regretted that decision. I am more convinced now than ever before that it was and is the plan of God for me to serve this great congregation. I am more excited now than then to have the privilege of being their Pastor.
It is my plan to serve as Lead Pastor of Chestnut Ridge Church until I retire. Until then, we have much to do. There is a community to impact – there are souls to be saved – there are disciples to be made – there are families to be strengthened – and there are people to be filled with hope. I invite you to join me and the spiritual family at Chestnut Ridge Church to help us change our world for the Lord Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.
